Original Art

I love to create original artwork on a variety of surfaces–wood, canvas, paper, and even walls. Each piece is unique and is a result of my spontaneous splatter and layer process, and is done without a preliminary sketch:

  1. The first layers of paint are laid down and splattered–a random mixture of house paint, acrylic, and spray paint.
  2. After the piece is left to dry, I begin to draw images I see in the paint. Reference photos are sometimes used to help me bring out certain images.
  3. The foreground emerges with layers of acrylic paint, marker, and sometimes oil paint. The colors and images are sometimes affected by my mood and what music I’m listening to in my studio.
  4. Repeat if necessary.
