THANK YOU EVERYONE! My Kickstarter project has reached (and exceeded) its goal of $4,000! Just look at that chart–donations literally jumped from 69% to 100% within a day! You guys are amazing. I will keep everyone updated on the making of this show, and if you’re still interested in grabbing some of the backer rewards (t-shirts, prints, original pieces, all with NO shipping fee), you still can. Kickstarter donations will stay open for the next month, and will close on August 29th. Cheers!

Streams of Subconscious Solo Show – Hold Up Art, Los Angeles CA

I will be unveiling over 40 new works at my first major solo exhibition at Hold Up Art in Los Angeles. Through using a stream-of-concsciousness method (painting the first thing that comes to mind), I examine the essence of dreams and the emotions they evoke upon awakening. Until August 29th, I will be fundraising on Kickstarter to produce this show, and my goal amount is $4,000. Please consider pledging! Any amount over $5 will be appreciated, and you can score prints, t-shirts, and other AT merch. Watch the video below for more info, or visit my project’s Kickstarter profile.

TONIGHT: “Some of Its Parts” at Hold Up Art

Tonight at Hold Up Art in LA, I’ll be debuting 13 brand new pieces! Here’s a preview of two:

“Cause” and “Effect”
Acrylic, spray paint, and marker on wood

PRESS RELEASE:

Hold UP Art Gallery in downtown Los Angeles presents “some of its parts”, an exhibit of new work by internationally recognized artist THH70. The exhibit marks the artist’s return to the L.A. gallery stage with his first full-blown Los Angeles show in 4 years. The exhibit opens on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 7:00 – 10:00pm, with the artist in attendance. The art of THH70 will be accompanied by the work of 3 emerging artists — SFaustina, Allison Torneros, and Jeru Gabriel. The exhibit continues thru March 31st.

THH70 is recognized for his unique artistic approach that he has branded “Lo-Fi Urban Contemporary,” combining crude painterly techniques and utilizing materials and media (that include everything from acrylics and spray paint to household products like Windex, bleach and X-14 mildew remover) with his own style of raw, yet detailed illustration and stream-of-consciousness linguistics.

The exhibition will also feature the Release of THH70′s very first giclee print, Limited Edition series of 37 only available through Hold Up Art. Please call the gallery at (213) 221-4585 if you’d like to reserve a print before the show opens, as we expect this extremely limited print to sell out.

Curator Brian Lee of Hold Up Art says… “‘some of its parts’ highlights a trend in Contemporary Art that is a reaction to the super flat and super clean matte aesthetic of superstars like Murakami and Shepard Fairey. THH70, Torneros, SFaustina and Gabriel question the tendencies of contemporary ‘design,’ and say the dirty, messy and organic can still further the notions of 2D design in fine art, and our visual culture.

I will be showing a brand new piece at this weekend’s OAC Art for Awareness Show in Pomona. See you there!

Oceanic Awareness Collaboration’s FIRST ANNUAL ART FOR AWARENESS 2011

Saturday, February 26, 2011
Auction and Reception: 6-11pm
$10 donation at the door

OAC’s Art for Awareness 2011
Oceanic Awareness Collaboration and Andi Campognone Projects are proud to present the 1st annual Art for Awareness Benefit. A one night event Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 6 – 11pm, featuring art work by 50 artists from around the country and as far away as the UK and Indonesia.
This exhibition and sale is a mix of all genres of art; from fine art to graffiti, sculpting to tattoo art. There is something for everyone in this auction not only visually, but also financially. You will find semi-expensive originals to lower-priced limited rare prints. OAC is asking a $10 donation at the door, inside you’ll find a wide variety of art, drinks, food, and live music out on the patio space. The bidding will stop at 10pm. The gallery is located half a block from Acerogami (The Glass House Bar) and the after party will be held at Acerogami.
Art for Awareness 2011 is a creative effort to raise global awareness about the North Pacific Garbage Patch and the negative effects of plastic pollution. OAC has partnered with Guided Discoveries to also use the proceeds from this art sale to provide scholarships to a number of student with financial needs who apply to attend the Catalina Island Marine Institute summer camp. Those receiving scholarships will be in the age range of 8 – 17. OAC is a non-profit organization formed to use art, music, and fashion to raise environmental awareness to the youth culture through creative outlets.
“The mind is a fertile canvas where concepts are born and ideas are harvested. Three seeds were planted in the thoughts of visionaries and from them came forth the hybrid known as OAC. Art, Music, and Fashion would soon thereafter come together to alter the worlds view of our habitat. OAC is growing against the grains of normalcy to bring the worlds wounds before the public eye. We are here to inspire change, and provoke attention.” – Clay Wendel, President & Co-Founder
OAC sets its scope on all things ocean related and not widely addressed. The current plan, a specific focus, takes aim at the North Pacific Gyre, which has a problem that has been labeled “Trash Island” or “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch”. This is one of the most overlooked, human induced catastrophes that has ever plagued our planet. Now we’re starting to see these trash vacuums grow and show up in other gyres around the world like in the Indian Ocean and Atlantic; proof that the infection is not only contained to the North Pacific. We realize that one non-profit organization can’t make it stop, but we can urge the world to change the circumstances. OAC will bring this problem, as well as others, out into the public eye. OAC was created to raise awareness and fund projects that help to change environmental issues in a positive way.

This Weekend, UNO Art Show @ Hold Up Art

This weekend I’ll be showcasing two pieces at the Hold Up Art 1-Year Anniversary show, as well as doing a live painting collabo with Codak! Scroll down for preview photos. :)

UNO: Hold Up Art’s 1st Anniversary Show

In celebration of our official one year anniversary, Hold Up Art will be presenting UNO, a group show sponsored by Viva La Art which opens February 5th from 7-11pm. The show will feature over 20 artists; including many we have had the pleasure to work with over the last year, as well as new artists whose artwork will be showcased throughout 2011.

During 2010, we worked hard to have a strong line up hosting exhibitions almost every 3 weeks. We put together shows featuring amazing California street artists (Marxist Glue), upcoming designers (Graphic Expansion), and cutting edge surreal artists (Parallel Universes). 2010 was an incredible year for art, and we are looking forward to placing our mark on 2011, during which we are proud to add new artists to our core group, including Gosha, a groundbreaking water color artist. THH70 will also be joining forces with HUPA for “some of its parts,” opening 3/5. HUPA will continue to push dialogues that entertain the public, while challenging them to think critically and engage. In October 2011 “Marxist Glue 2″ will pick up where the inaugural exhibition left off, working to display California wheatpaste artists, an ever present force in urban California life, in their natural condition.

As a new gallery trying to find our place in the LA art scene, we have been overwhelmed by the positive responses we have received from artists, patrons and media alike. Thank you for all the support.

UNO Exhibition Details (2/5 from 7-11pm):

-Unveiling of new artwork, live music, and tasty refreshments for all.

- Featured artists: ABCNT, ALEC Monopoly, Codak, Cryptik, Sonny Kay, Lucky Bunny, Eye One, Jeff Jordan, THH70, Allison Torneros, Sean D’Anconia, Root Systm, Charlie Cho, Hella More Funner, Nick D’Attomo, Faith Cavendish, Matt Hodges, Teale Hatheway, Mikolaj, Double D’s, and more.

- Cyrcle will be live silk-screening a variety of their prints and an official HUPA print for $10 each. You can also bring anything you want to get screened, including bags, t-shirts, etc. and we can throw a design on that.

- HUPA will be giving away new Hold Up Art stickers.

- Opening Reception: February 5th, 7-11pm

- On View: February 5th- March 3rd

This Saturday I will be displaying two new pieces:

Nebula
4ftx4ft
Acrylic and spraypaint on wood

Here’s a shot of the detail:

I will also be showing ‘The Unraveling’, the piece from my one and only time-lapse video (I really need to make more of those videos soon!)

Fall Brewery Art Walk 2010 Photos

The Brewery Arts Complex in Los Angeles is an old Pabst Blue Ribbon factory, home to over 500 art and design studios and galleries, and is home to many artists.

On October 9th and 10th, the Brewery held its Fall 2010 Art Walk. Despite my car getting t-boned on the way to the Brewery that Sunday morning, I had an awesome time. I loved being able to meet so many of you at my very first Brewery Art Walk. Check out the photos from the event and make sure to become a fan of my Facebook page!
